  • ABOUT THE PHOTO

    Feeding Gulls, Varanasi, India, 2016

The Ganges is considered to be India’s holiest river and consequently all life forms that rely on the waters are treated with similar respect. Pilgrims feed the fish, the turtles and also the gulls as an act of worship. The gulls in this picture are migratory, spending about a month here, which because of the free food is probably longer than otherwise.
