  • ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPH

     Ganga Puja – 2, Varanasi, India, 2014

Early morning on the Ganges in Varanasi is the time when pilgrims flock to the river in order to honour both Mother Ganga and the rising sun. The Ganges is said to flow from the Hindu God Shiva’s dreadlocks, turning not only into a river but becoming the Goddess Ganga. As Hindus strongly believe that bathing in the Ganges will erase all sin, pilgrims come from all over India to perform their puja (worship) here.

Silver gelatin print on Fomabrom baryta double-weight fibre-based paper.

    35mm negative taken with a Leica M6 and 35mm F1.4 leitz lens.
